ECOVERDE Homes and its parent company Malate Construction & Development Corporation grabbed the Housing & Realty Development category during the 4th Mindanao Business Leaders & Entrepreneurs Awards 2015 spearheaded by BusinessWeek Mindanao and held last July 25 at Centrio, this city. For 30 years now, MCDC has engaged in construction and housing development. From its initial collaboration with the National Housing Authority (NHA) in providing today’s Filipino family with quality affordable homes, MCDC has morphed into several reputable brands – Ecoverde Homes, Ecoverde Homes Premier, Mahogany Villas, Mahogany Villas Promenade and Bamboo Orchard.

MCDC began as a government contractor in 1986. Founded by its current president and CEO, Giovanni Olivares, MCDC gained its reputation and experience in building mass housing and relocation sites around Metro Manila. It is noteworthy to mention that Olivares’ wife, the former Nanette Valmores hails from the lineage of Datu Mamerto Manuel Valmores, one of the founding patriarchs and appointed first gobernardorcillo of the town of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

The heart for Mindanaoans grew even more after the eldest son of MCDC’s Valmores-Olivares couple – Paolo Giovanni V. Olivares, MCDC’s vice president for operations and the subsidiary business unit (SBU) head for Ecoverde Homes, married a daughter of a Mindanaoan – the former Charisse Sarmiento.

Charisse is the granddaughter of then provincial commander of Lanao, David Sarmiento Sr. and daughter of Mr. David Sarmiento Jr. who was born in Malaybalay and is an alumnus of Xavier University. Charisse is currently the general manager of Ecoverde Homes Corporation while the corporation’s matriarch Nanette Valmores-Olivares is currently the company’s vice president for administration. Needless to say, the Mindanaoan blood runs in the MCDC family. It is in this point that MCDC is focusing its expansions in Mindanao, bringing affordable and quality homes to Mindanaoans.

Its debut project in Mindanao – Ecoverde Homes Manolo Fortich boasts of staying true to the company’s vision and mission ith the quality of its units exceeding expectations, changing and raising the common definition of Socialized Housing.

Soon, it will break ground for another fine and distinctive development in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City with its Ecoverde Homes Premier.
